The Leipzig Oud Festival, taking place from 13–22 November 2026, brings together international oud masters, musicians and participants from diverse cultural and generational backgrounds for a week of workshops, concerts and artistic exchange. A central focus of the second edition is supporting young artists: ten musicians under the age of 27 from different countries and cultural backgrounds will work directly with experienced oud masters, developing their musical skills, exploring diverse traditions of Arabic music and gaining confidence in their own artistic voices. Through collaborative workshops and five public concerts, participants are encouraged to contribute their own ideas, take initiative and experience the full creative process from learning to performing. The festival also promotes intercultural and intergenerational dialogue, addressing the underrepresentation and stereotyping of Arabic musical traditions in Europe. Building on the successful first edition in 2025, the 2026 festival continues its international partnerships and creates opportunities for young musicians to actively participate in cultural life, connect with established artists and develop lasting artistic relationships.
